An Open Love Letter to Black Fathers: A Choreopoem reveals deeply moving relationships between father-daughter pairs. Themes of addiction, sexual violence and incarceration are explored in tandem with healing, forgiveness and unconditional love. With bold poetic language, gestural movement and original song, Open Love Letter reminds us that our experiences matter, our lives matter, and that the way we frame our experiences of trauma can either condemn and destroy us, or liberate and empower us. Open Love Letter is autobiographical and includes narratives of 8 women who were interviewed for this project. |
